Airtel Partners ZTE to Roll out 4G Services in Nigeria

In terms of inexpensive data rates in Nigeria, I suppose Glo and Airtel move head to head. even though one of the blessings Glo has over Airtel is its 4G LTE offerings —Airtel is the only Telco that has failed to set up 4G LTE offerings in the country no matter being the first Telco to finish a successful 4G trial in Lagos.

This is set to change as Airtel will officially roll out its 4G services in Nigeria (No date has been revealed, yet). The rollout is in partnership with  ZTE, a chinese multinational telecommunications device/systems business enterprise. consistent with Mr. Seun Ogunsanya, handling Director, Airtel Nigeria
This is a new dawn for mobile internet in Nigeria.

Airtel and ZTE’s collaboration to roll out 4G service plan in Nigeria will dramatically improve the mobile internet experience for telecommunications consumers across the country.
“Indeed, Airtel is committed to strengthening its position as a true pioneer of innovation in the Nigerian telecommunications domain.
“This is in line with our overall corporate vision of becoming the mobile Internet service provider of first choice for every Nigerian,” he said.

I'm not certain if you will be required to change your SIM to a 4G enabled one, however there is a high risk that Airtel would possibly follow in Globacom’s footsteps rather than Etisalat’s.
